3 ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING (3D PRINTING)
Our Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) printers use a high power-density laser to melt and fuse metallic powders together to create devices and parts. We offer dedicated Cobalt Chrome and Titanium printers to our customers for regulated Aerospace and Medical applications.
4 POST-PROCESSING & FINISHING
Parts are removed from the build plate and finished to your specifications. Polishing, sand-blasting, threading, and even mirror-finishing of metal parts is possible in this phase of production.
Channels that have been engineered to cool tooling pieces at a specified rate for Injection mould making companies are now commonly Metal 3D printed. Thermal analysis is normally completed on injection mould tooling using advanced software, these simulations are used to create channels that have never before been able to be manufactured using traditional methods. Injection mould companies are now seeing decreased cycle times, increased part quality and increased tooling life.
Tooling and rapid prototyping has found a permeant place in the Automotive industry. Metal and Plastic 3D printing has allowed the automotive industry to iterate faster, having fully functional prototypes and in some cases full scale serial production. As our technology continues to evolve the Automotive industry will enjoy the benefits of having reduce time, energy and cost for the end consumer.
Metal AM has enabled the marine sector the ability to reverse engineer legacy parts that generally have no 3D CAD files and could potentially take 12 to 18 months to traditionally manufacture. The part focus in this industry are small, high value, complex parts, and in some applications, an assembly of parts coming together. The ability of AM to reduce fasteners and parts in general means fewer parts need to be validated, which can also decrease delivery times and increase manufacturing efficiencies.
ENERGY / OIL & GAS
The Energy sector has been able to use Metal AM as a complementary manufacturing process to traditional methods. New types of materials and as-built surfaces are being accepted into full scale production. This new type of manufacturing is giving companies the ability to be more responsive to part design iterations, and has even decreased delivery times in serial production parts. Possibly the biggest advantage that AM brings to this sector is part consolidation – the ability to reduce assemblies of multiple parts into as few as one.
